Golden Wheat Bakery is a cozy family-run bakery nestled in Seattle’s Central District, offering a welcoming spot for locals to grab fresh baked goods alongside simple breakfast and lunch options. Walking in, you’re met with the warm scent of fresh bread and pastries, setting a casual, homey tone that invites repeat visits.

This bakery shines as a laid-back morning or early afternoon retreat, especially for those who appreciate a blend of sweet and savory items. The menu highlights include standout baked goods like moist blueberry coffee cake, tender chocolate croissants, and sizeable slices of pound cake, each clearly baked with care and skill. On the savory side, the chicken tamale, often paired with a mild homemade hot sauce, offers a satisfying twist that adds to the bakery’s unique character.

The beverage lineup complements the food well, centered around approachable coffee options. The horchata latte—a creamy fusion of rice milk, condensed milk, espresso, and cinnamon—is a distinctive choice that reflects the bakery’s subtle nod to Latin flavors, though it pairs best with a light and fresh bakery item to balance its sweetness. Other coffee staples like cortados, cappuccinos, and lattes round out the selection for those wanting a classic caffeine fix.

Golden Wheat Bakery fits well into the rhythm of daily life in the neighborhood. Many stop by for a quick breakfast or brunch, savoring egg sandwiches or a plain bagel paired with cream cheese. The space itself carries a quiet, friendly atmosphere where familiar faces—locals and staff alike—create a genuine sense of community. It feels less like a bustling café and more like a neighborhood kitchen you can count on for consistent, comforting food and good conversation.

Visits during weekday mornings or weekend brunch hours are ideal, as the bakery’s modest size means it’s busiest when locals are out starting their days. The approachable menu and welcoming service make it a spot where you don’t have to rush—whether you’re popping in for a to-go order or lingering over coffee and cake.

Overall, Golden Wheat Bakery serves those who appreciate straightforward but thoughtfully prepared baked goods, a quiet setting, and the feel of a longstanding local favorite that’s quietly woven into the fabric of Seattle’s Central District.

Small family bakery that has served the Central District for 13 years. They do serve a small breakfast and lunch menu. Horchata was good but I’ve had better. The pound cake was huge slice & tasted great. Alot of locals frequent the restaurant. The owners & the family their very nice.

*my original review was deleted * Inside the Golden Wheat Bakery the smell of fresh baked goods pulls you in. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Cozy vibes, friendly service, and the kind of bakery that makes you want to become a regular. I grabbed the blueberry coffee cake and—wow. Moist doesn't even begin to cover it. Soft, fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth perfection with juicy bursts of blueberry and a crumb topping that was chef’s kiss. It tasted homemade in the best way. Cozy, comforting, and totally worth a return trip. Golden Wheat Bakery, is a hidden gem tucked away but unforgettable. From blueberry coffee cake to croissants, every item has that homemade-with-love energy. A gem worth the detour.

Really wonderful family owned bakery. The atmosphere is very welcoming and warm, everyone working here was very kind and you can tell they love what they do! We got the horchata latte and protein latte. Both were very good and I got a tamale to go. The chicken tamale was sooo good and came with a delicious mild hot sauce. As we drank out lattes we saw the grandma / cook come from the kitchen to serve people their food (all the food coming from the kitchen smelled and looked delicious)!! It was so heartwarming to see. I will definitely be coming back here!

Keep it a secret: An awesome breakfast or brunch spot! Excellent egg sandwiches and bakery goods that show they’ve got skill and originality…. They make a bread alligator…oh, that’s a secret too. Check this place out, you’ll be back!

Came here to grab a quick breakfast! This place totally deserves more recognition and attention! Ordered their Plain Bagel with cream cheese , Chocolate Croissant and CoffeeCake ! Loved them all The chocolate croissant is probably one of the best croissants I’ve ever had ! The filling was just perfect, not too sweet either The coffee cake is perfectly done and topped off with some cinnamon sugar! Will definitely come again and recommend this place Ps - They also offer lunch etc.

Golden Wheat is a quaint, charming little spot, perfect for a weekend breakfast with friends, a bulk order of baked goods to go, or a working weekday morning utilizing their free Wi-Fi. The staff is kind and friendly with the locals. I started my breakfast with a pork and cheese pupusa, a horchata latte, and a biscotti cookie. I was a little disappointed to see my pupusa come out of a microwave, rather than off a hot griddle, but it was still tasty. The biscotti is perfectly soft and sweet dipped in the horchata latte, which itself is unique and balanced. Later in the morning I tried the burrito Mexican and a chicken tamale. The tamale is good, but the burrito is excellent! It's rolled fresh with generous portions of delicious, spiced meat. I also tried a host of baked goods. My favorites are the blueberry muffin and the coffee cake, both of which are soft and moist with a deep flavor. They remind me of a pan dulce — not too sweet but very satisfying. Some other highlights for me are the ginger molasses cookie, which tastes like it's made with fresh ginger — yum! — and the pecan sticky bun, which is rich and delicious warmed up.

The cute little bakery is located between 30th and Cherry St. It has a fusion of Mexican flares. I came in early today the place is pretty quiet but is probably bc is after 2 pm. The gal helped me seem very nice. The pastries didn't seem so fresh to me so I didn't want to buy much of anything. I got a club sandwich and a cookie for my niece. The coconut cookie looks tasty so I got one to try. It was pretty moist and delicious. Not overly coconut. The price seems high to me. Especially on the croissant. If you live in the area and want to support a local business, check them out.

This has been one of my favorite bakeries, I love their sourdough bread, and breakfast burritos. Overall selection of pastries and coffee are on point and the vibe is very homey.
